i want to thank also the agencies of the city that have worked with us. first of all, the department of emergency management. we've become really kindred spirits in this whole process and we have been working with the poor, we've been working with the fire department, the police department, and who knows where else in this city. but there's just a lot of things i guess most of all martha cohen works with us on this. thank you for all you do to make this happen. i do want to say the importance of the mission of the disaster response, we have a saying in the marine corps, never put yourself in a position where you have to introduce yourself from the battle field. get to know each other before something happens. and that's what this is about. and we've gotten to know these military and these civilian folks that are going to have to work together when a big catastrophic earthquake happens. we don't know when it will happen. we do know that one of these days everybody predicts we're going to have one. there's a lot of other events that go on during fleet week

affects property owners, it affects the city. and things we've done, we've worked with the art commission. i think one of the funest things i was involved in was at that time deputy director nuru of dpw and i worked with the arts commission on what color the street furniture and lamp poles in san francisco should be and standardize that nice green color we have now and made it easier to paint out graffiti and keep a standard. so, dpw didn't have to carry around 10 different colors of paint with them to paint out graffiti. so, going forward what i'd really like to see is just really more education, more education, education with kids, with property owners around their responsibilities, with folks that get caught doing vandalism and grab feet and also education with the arts -- on avenues for people to express their creativity and that kind of thing. so. >> thank you, mr. giusti. i've seen you at many events. i appreciate your work and passion and for serving since its inception. glad that you're still here. just a quick question.

what can be done for the city to give more to the schools. president khiu and supervisor olague. >> and supervisor mar, i want to thank you for holding this hearing. i'm sorry i wasn't able to be present during the entire time because we're in the middle of our budget discussions right now for the city and county of san francisco. part of the reasons why i enjoy and want to sit on this committee is continue to educate myself on what often feels like an artificial divide on the school district and city and county of san francisco. i think for those of us on the city and county side to not think about revenue challenges those of us with the school district are facing and not think creatively about how we can support our schools i think does a disservice to our city as a hole. i very much appreciate the discussion both of our colleagues from the school district as well as from stakeholders in making sure we have a world class education system. i for one am certainly interested and open to thinking about how we on the city side, particularly as o
